I got a book that I had bought online through ebay today. It contains the medical history of Dauphin county, Pa- where Hiram Rutherford is from. Hiram is listed in the book and several very nice pieces on his brother, William Wilson Rutherford. It is a great find, limited edition published in 1967. It is hand numbered at 220.

I transcribed 1829-1850 today. Should be done with this little part of the project by the weekend.
The first birth on my list is that of General Jackson Ashmore- born 14Dec1829- to Samuel Clayborn Ashmore and Ruth Cowan.
The first death was Elizabeth Ashmore- born 1831- daughter of Samuel Claybourne Ashmore and Sarah Black.
The first marriage is listed as Nicholas Curtis and Sarah Hunt on 1Jan1841.
I thought this might be a good way to get information out there for anyone who might be interested and to maybe obtain information, also.
I have a lot of information on the Rutherford's- going back 28 generations- and a lot of the branch family trees also.
This winter I have been working on the family trees of the early settlers of Oakland- which was settled in 1829 officially. I have found a land purchase dating one year earlier than this by someone else and am checking that out.
I am in the process of doing the chronological order of events in Oakland, first known as Independence, from 1829-1910.
I have a lot of pictures that are not identified that I will be posting every week. If you would happen to know who they are, please leave a comment.

Harriett Hutchinson Rutherford- Hiram's 2nd wife.
Dr. Hiram Rutherford- born in PA- came to Oakland in 1840.
